My ideal alone time room
As I listen to Ready Player One for the third time, I got to thinking about what kinds of things I would buy if I had the money to build my own study/game room. I was trying to figure out a list of things that I could use and/or display that would make someone who walks into the room know a lot about me just by looking around.
I would start with the usual:
Big old wooden desk with twin moniters for a desktop PC on one side and a dock for my laptop on the other. It would one of those desks with ornate wood working all over it and a big desk chair. I would want a desk chair that is big and comfy enough to sit in for hours, but not so comfy that I get tired sitting in it.
Across the room from the desk would be a large 4K 3D TV mounted above a fireplace mantle. It would be connected to a Chromecast, and to my desktop computer. Computer would have a remote for it as well, and would have a DVD/Bluray drive built in.
A fire place, real or fake doesnt matter as long as, if it is fake, that it looks exactly like a real stone fireplace, complete with large wooden mantle.
The wall opposite from the door would be covered in book shelves. The book shelves would be filled with many books, movies, CDs, Vinal, and figures and such from many different genres of Geekdom.
The wall the door is one would be covered in movie posters, album jackets, art work, and so on.
There would be a Dolby Atmos surround sound in the room with the speakers all hidden in a way that gets crystal clear sound, but no one knows its there.
Between the Desk and the TV would be a couch running parallel with the desk facing the TV, and two recliners that swivel to face the TV or face the couch, with a small card coffee table between the couch and the chairs.
The entire room would have sound proof insulation, and nothing valuable would be low enough to the children to reach, and any shelves that are that low would have a plastic covering with a lock so the kids could see, but not touch.
The floor would be carpeted with super soft carpet so that I could walk barefoot if I wanted and not worry about cold floors.
The wall behind the desk would be a big bay window, and would have heavy curtains over them to block out any light if I wanted to watch a movie during the day or was having a migraine day.
There would be a small colored revolving light in the left corner of the ceiling by the TV. There would be a doorbell outside of the room, so that if I were watching a movie loud or music too loud, and had the door locked, people could get my attention other that just knocking on the door.
There would also be a small fridge built into the desk, would hold my favorite drinks, snacks, and Bloodwine.
So thats my ideal room, how about you? What room would you make to be alone and sip some Bloodwine?
